Through Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season, the MVP conversation runs through four names — Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, Jared Goff and Patrick Mahomes — and a fifth storyline that's bigger than any individual: Kansas City's chase for a third straight championship. Here's where the race stands, and the jerseys connected to each contender.
Updated October 26, 2026 · Week 8 of the 2026 NFL season. Jersey availability verified on Elite Jersey NFL the same day — every product below is a live page.
- Lamar Jackson (Ravens): the reigning production king whenever he's on the field — his ankle recovery is the single biggest swing factor in the race
- Josh Allen (Bills): elite offense, 4–3 head-to-head edge over Jackson, and the AFC's best team record to lean on
- Jared Goff (Lions): piloting the NFC's most explosive offense through an NFC North fight with Minnesota
- Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs): two-time defending champion chasing history; added DeAndre Hopkins to a receiving corps missing Rashee Rice
Why the 2026 MVP race is unusually open
Most seasons, the award sorts itself out by Thanksgiving. This year it can't — because the top contenders keep knocking each other around. Jackson's ankle injury (October 4) handed the narrative to Allen, whose Bills own the AFC's best combination of record and point differential. Goff's Lions, meanwhile, are in a division knife-fight with a Minnesota defense that blitzes more than anyone, and Mahomes is doing his usual winning-ugly act atop the Super Bowl odds board with Kelce still the security blanket in the red zone.
The Week 8 slate stacks the board even tighter: Ravens at Bills puts the top two names on one field (Sunday, November 1, 1:00 PM ET), and Vikings at Lions decides the NFC North's early lead the same afternoon.

Kansas City's three-peat watch
No team has ever won three straight Super Bowls. The 2026 Chiefs are the closest anyone has come to trying it with the same core: Mahomes throwing, Kelce wearing down defenses over the middle, Chris Jones anchoring the defense, and a mid-season Hopkins addition for the red zone. Whether or not history happens, the jerseys are already iconic — in stock now:

The rest of the race, on one shelf
Sunday night lights follow: Eagles at Commanders, 8:20 PM ET — Barkley's revenge-tour season against Jayden Daniels' Washington, and both jersey markets are among the hottest in the store.
Frequently asked questions
Who is the 2026 NFL MVP favorite right now?
Through Week 8 the race has no runaway leader: Josh Allen has the best team record among the contenders, Lamar Jackson remains the production benchmark whenever his ankle allows him to play, Jared Goff is driving the NFC's most explosive offense, and Patrick Mahomes stays on every ballot while chasing a third straight title. Injuries between now and January will likely decide it.
Did the Chiefs ever win three Super Bowls in a row?
No NFL team has ever three-peated. The 2026 season is Kansas City's attempt at the first, with Mahomes and Kelce back from the two-time defending championship core.
Which MVP-contender jersey sells the most?
Quarterbacks dominate every season: purple Lamar Jackson jerseys and red Patrick Mahomes jerseys are this store's consistent top two, with Josh Allen's away white close behind during Bills win streaks.
Game, limited or replica — which jersey should I buy?
Game jerseys are the best value for weekly wear, limited (stitched) versions are the closest feel to on-field quality, and replica/legend tops are the budget-friendly pick for kids and game-day social. All three tiers are listed on each player's product pages.
